Dan Thompson is the founder and Chair of Gold Challenge. He is incredibly passionate about the physical and mental health benefits of increased levels of physical activity. He believes that communities of all sizes – from a family or group of friends to a workplace to a borough or city – can transform their health & wellbeing through increased physical activity. And have fun doing it!
He is particularly focussed on ensuring that everything we do at Gold Challenge works for those who are, for whatever reason, inactive or less active. “Inclusivity is at the core of everything we do and we carefully design our challenges so that everyone can take part irrespective of age, impairment, gender or fitness levels”.
Dan is also a Trustee and Treasurer of the Charity Technology Trust and a trustee of the Panathlon Challenge which provide sporting opportunities for 10 000 disabled young people every year. He is currently undertaking the extraordinary Run the World challenge whereby he has committed to run 10km in every country in the world – a total of 206 countries – by the 2020 Olympics in Tokyo. Dan is doing the challenge to promote the benefits of sport and physical activity and to raise money for cancer research.
He is also talking to interested parties all over the world about a global Run the World event designed to celebrate and encourage running, walking and cycling and raise money for local charities.
Dan would love to hear from anyone who would like to join him on a run or who would be interested in supporting the challenge or the Run the World event in any way – please contact us on 0207 099 8895 or via email firstname.lastname@example.org.
Dan has a degree in Politics, Philosophy and Economics from Oxford University.
