Our Fundraising Section has full details on fundraising including our top ten tips. However, the first step is to set up a fundraising page on either VirginMoneyGiving or JustGiving. And the great news is that we will do this for you!
During registration, simply tick the box confirming that you'd like us to set up a fundraising page for you and we'll get it done and send you an email with your page details. Remember, you can always edit your page to personalise it later.
My Page is your personal page to customise and share with your friends and family. Make it as fun as possible by uploading photos, telling people about all the new sports you are taking on and keeping track of your fundraising progress.
Once you have registered for the challenge, you will be sent an email containing your Gold Challenge Username and Password to log in to your personal Page.
Once you login - here's some of what you can do:
- Add a picture to your Gold Challenge page
- Tell people about your challenge
- Select the sports you want to take on, or start logging the distances you've covered, or the times you've completed.
- Print off completion certificates for each sport
- Add your online fundraising URL to your page
- Edit your details
- If you're in a team - see how all your team mates are doing
- Share your page URL with all your friends and family so they can keep track of it.
- And more!
All our challenges have both team and individual options but please note that all team members need to register and all need to fundraise for the same charity.
The 2012 km Challenge - Doing this challenge as a team means that each team member's distances count towards the overall distance.
The Olympic Sport Challenge - If you take this on as a team, then each sport can be done by as many team members as you choose. (Feed-back from existing challengers is that its fun learning new sports with other team members.)
Gold Challenge In A Gym -Taking this on as a team means you'll just need to cover 2012km together as a team.
And if you're a company looking for a new team challenge, check out our dedicated Employee Challenge to find out how you can do the Gold Challenge
As team captain, you will be taking the reigns of your challenge, organising your team mates and leading the way.
It's also your responsibility to create a fundraising page and share the link with all your team mates! Then you can send it to everyone you know and start raising money.
If you're doing the Multi Sport Challenge, then you can score points as you complete your sports.
Points are scored as follows:
- 10 points for completing a sport by undertaking 3-5 hours of coaching
- 20 points for completing a sport by undertaking 6+ hours of coaching
- 20 points for completing a sport by taking part in an affiliated competition
- 10-50 points for completing a sport by finishing a distance event.
Distance events such as marathons, triathlons and the 10km open water swims score 50 points ; shorter distance events score lower points. For full details see our points section which is coming soon!
Frame Your Certificate
Make it official by downloading your Gold Challenge certificate from the media centre and getting your coach or a sporting official to award your points and sign it off.
This is a nice memento to keep, and shows your sponsors just how serious you are about your challenge, and how well you're doing!
