Join our Gold Challenge team and help us to make a difference. The Cardiomyopathy Association is a national charity dedicated to helping people affected by cardiomyopathy. This is often thought of as a 'rare' condition and therefore receives less attention than many other conditions, even though it is known to affect up to 1 in 500 of the population.
The term cardiomyopathy means 'disease of the heart muscle' and can cause a range of debilitating symptoms, from heart failure to tragic young sudden deaths. We receive no government support and all our work is funded by our supporters voluntary fundraising and gifts in wills. By joining the Cardiomyopathy Association's Gold Challenge team you will be making a real difference. We will be with you every step of the way and provide you with fundraising support and materials. Why Choose Cardiomyopathy Association? People diagnosed with cardiomyopathy face a bewildering situation as they come to terms with their situation and seek to learn more about the condition. The Cardiomyopathy Association is there to help them. Our services respond to the feelings of anxiety, isolation and confusion that people commonly feel when affected by cardiomyopathy. We work to empower people by helping them to understand cardiomyopathy, allaying their fears and promoting independence.We provide authorative information booklets, a help line staffed by experienced nurses, an informative website and regional information meetings. All our services are provided free of charge. We have supported clinical care by funding specialist medical and nursing posts in the UK. To assist in the education of health professionals we provide educational opportunities through our academic conference programme. The majority of the places at our conferences are provided free of charge to ensure the learning opportunity is widely available to as many specialists as possible.
