Join this unique challenge on behalf of a unique charity to enable children and young people to recover from severe relational trauma, to enjoy life and to achieve their potential.Childhood First cares for, treats and educates children with the most severe emotional and behavioural difficulties, caused by neglect and abuse. These children cannot cope in foster homes, children's homes or special school. Many come to us from psychiatric or secure care. Some have never been to school. From pioneering beginnings in 1970, with the formation of our first therapeutic community for young people, and subsequently at Peper Harow (founded 1973, closed 1993) and Thornby Hall (founded 1986), we have continued to refine our treatment method and to offer it more widely, with the development of further residential facilities at Greenfields House and School in Kent and Earthsea House and Merrywood House in Norfolk, for children and young people aged 5-18. Why choose Childhood First Without our specialist help, these children's prospects are bleak: violence, crime, the streets, psychiatric hospital, prison, murder, suicide. And the cycle will continue with their own children. With our help, their trauma can be healed, their potential developed and the cycle of suffering broken. Childhood First is their last chance of a normal life, their last chance to develop to their true potential. The Gold Challenge is a chance for you to support these children's true potential. By raising vital money for us we will be able to improve the specialist help we provide and expand this life-saving work. Charity Registration Number: 286909 |
