Our unique ability to provide lifetime partnerships is only possible because of the broad spectrum of services that we are able to offer. Diverse Abilities Plus is a charity providing people-centred support and services for children and adults, who have physical and/or learning difficulties, many of which are profound or complex. We are based in Poole, Bournemouth and Dorset - England. We were founded in 1955 by a group of parents intent on providing better opportunities for their children with physical and learning disabilities. Today we provide a range of services for both children and adults. Our motto illustrates our determination to embrace and develop new opportunities for people with disabilities. Langside School is an independent non-maintained specialist day school for children and young people. It provides an holistic education allowing pupils to achieve their full potential. Smithers offers an overnight stay & day home for children. Short breaks help parents cope with the challenges of providing full time care at home. Shapes offers flexible domiciliary care for children, at times when it Is most needed. It helps young people across community based activities such as youth clubs. Project My Time provides holiday fun giving children with severe disabilities the same leisure and fun opportunities as their peers can enjoy. Barnabas is a well equipped day opportunities setting where adults can make new friends and acquire new skills and experiences.
Supported Living enables people with physical and learning disabilities, often profound, to live independently in their own homes. Why choose Diverse Abilities Plus? Your support could enable us to continue the fantastic work that we do and will continue to do in order to support adults and children with often profound disabilties. For us to provide the services that we do costs £12,000 per day - your fundraising efforts will enable us to continue to provide this support both now and in the future and could also enable us to grow the diverse services that we are able to provide; enabling us meet the needs of more people in our communities. We will endeavour to achieve this through the development of tailor made programmes of support according to the need of the individual through every transitional stage of their lives and personal development.
