First Touch - the official, registered charity supporting sick and premature babies at St George's Hospital's neonatal unit, London
We spend your money in three ways: Equipment - we purchase specialist equipment, such as incubators, ventilators and critical care monitors to ensure that our babies receive the best possible medical care. Family Welfare - we offer support to families whilst they are on the neonatal unit through our welfare fund. Clinical Training - we fund specialist nurse training and development. Our passionate Fundraising and Management Committee is made up of NNU staff and parents who have had first hand experience of a baby on the unit. Our Board of Trustees draws its expertise from neonatal consultants, nurses and parents to ensure that every penny raised is spent to the greatest effect and where it is most urgently needed. Why choose First Touch The neonatal unit at St George's is a Regional Centre of Excellence, caring for some of the sickest and tiniest babies in London and the south east of England. We care for over 500 babies each year. Many of our babies are born prematurely, some several months before they should have been born (40 weeks is considered full term). Extremely premature babies require complex medical care while they complete their development outside their mother's womb. Other babies are born near full term, but may need specialist treatment or surgery, or may require breathing support after a difficult birth. A large number of babies are transferred from other hospitals to receive the expertise of our clinical team and surgeons. Thanks to progress in medical science, the dedication of the clinical staff and the inspirational fighting spirit of even our tiniest babies, the unit is a very positive place. However we never forget the precious babies who are sadly too ill to survive and do not make it home. Registered Charity Number: 1072500 |

Established in 1998, First Touch is the charity supporting the neonatal unit at St George's Hospital in Tooting, south west London. The neonatal unit cares for over 500 sick and premature babies each year. The charity aims to help these babies to a bright future by ensuring the best care and support for them.
