Magic Bus - Changing lives through sports
India has a population of 1 billion with a third of people living below the poverty line. In such extreme poverty, children are always the first to suffer, considered of little value and disregarded by society. With 21 million children not attending school and over 50% of them suffering physical and sexual abuse the outlook is poor.
Magic Bus works to change this and find the potential and abilities within each child, providing them with confidence and hope for a better future. It believes in the child's right to they make their own choices, attend school and move into the mainstream job market.
Magic Bus is an outdoor education programme that uses sport to reach out to children. From the age of 7 to 18, children engage in weekly 2 hour sessions, day trips and outdoor activity camps. A tailor made curriculum takes them on a journey of self discovery throughout their childhood with young leaders from their own communities making them aware of their unique abilities and the world around them. This awareness turns into a belief in children that they have value and can make a difference, which provides them with purpose in life.
